super cute...

Twas the night before.... Christmas?

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
I was bored shitless and it just wasn't fair,
So I called all of my buddies but no one was there.

The idiots were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions naked women danced in their heads.
I said fuck this shit and I put on my cap,
And went to the pub for a little night cap.

I went out on the street and I made such a clatter,
That my neighbors woke up to see what was the matter.
I'd been out at the pub to some by Irish bash,
I drank all the liquor and smoked lots of hash.

I couldn't help it, I had to pee on the new-fallen snow
Writing my name with a liquid stream of yellow.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a cop car with lights flashing as it veered.

With an athletic driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment that I should put away my dick.
More rapid than eagles to arrest me they came,
And they whistled, and shouted, and called me by name!

"Hey asshole! Yeah, asshole! Get back here and freeze!
Stop running! Stop resisting! We'll catch you with ease!
You can't hide on the porch! Or climb up the wall!
Now get away from that house! And stop of you'll fall!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
I was twisting and turning and drunk so they knew,
They would catch me in a blink and arrest me soon.

So I ran to the yard and jumped over a fence.
Wondering if in court I could plead self-defense,
I climbed up a chimney and didn't make a sound.

The boys dressed all in blue, ran right past my foot,
While my clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
So I jumped from the chimney with the cops at my back,
I ran to the house, and I never looked back.

Exhausted and drunk and my heart pounding hard!
I fell on the floor thinking of the adventure in my yard!
And when I woke from my drunken slumber,
Standing there was a man in red his laughter like thunder.

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly!

He was chubby and plump, very unlike myself,
And I laughed when I saw him, stealing stuff from my shelf!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had something to dread.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
He even stole my stockings, and called me a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
Snorting up coke like vacuum cleaner's hose!

He left my house with me drunk on the floor,
Drunk and confused looking at my open door.
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas cocksucker, you shouldn't have got drunk tonight!"

Life Lessons with Muchacho

Has anyone ever wondered why parents and teachers spend a bunch of time telling their kids:

"Don't talk to strangers."
"Don't take candy from strangers."
"If an adult touches you, tell your parents."
"If a strange adult is watching you, tell your parents."

Then every year when Christmas time rolls around, parents take their kids to the mall to see Santa:

A stranger that knows when you're sleeping and when you're awake.
Who asks you if you've been a bad girl/boy.
Who wants you to sit on his lap.
Who wants you to tell him your secret desires.
Who gives you candy.
AND who wants a picture of you on his lap.

This to me just seems strange... I mean all year adult teach kids these fundamental rules of survival and then Christmas comes along and parents (the very people children are supposed to tell if anything bad happens) give their children to this strange man and watch as he whispers and holds them and smiles...

Imagine how traumatizing this is for the kids who really listened to their parents all year?

Here's some pics of a few kids who got the point and ask asking themselves "why mommy, why are you making me do this?!"

By la fabi !!!!!!!

Well first of all "Is just" is the of name that (the picture, the painting, the paintwork, whatever you wanna call it) , i did it like 2 days ago, i was looking for something to do, not bored, just in the mood to create...when i finish i really was happy about it, is amazing what a bunch of circles and rectangles can do to a person, on this case me, i think and it make feel with live... I ask muchacho today what he think about it, he didn't said it but i think he didn't like it, jajajaja, but is okay, you don't have to like it or understand it, that is one of the main reason that it make me like this graphic so much, i get so happy just to look at it...I hope it make the same for you too...

Oh mudarse.... :P

Oh mudarse....

So here's a song in honor of them.

LONG LIVE SHORT SHORTS!

It's funny cause it's true....

Q: WHY WERE HURRICANES NORMALLY NAMED AFTER WOMEN?
A: Because when they come, they're wild and wet. But when they go, they take your house and car with them.

About Montreal

I always talk about Montreal in my posts on MyPoliticophobia, so I figured I'd post a little tourism video that tries its best to describe this complex city in a 2 and a half minute presentation. Enjoys...

The disappearance of Muchacho

A few people have been asking me why I've been offline for the last few months, why I'm not writing, what I'm doing to fill my days. I usually give them some bullshit story about being homeless for a while and my life drastically changing in very little time.. But I think that it's time, for you, the readers to finally know the truth.

I'm part (or was part) of a super secret governmental agency called C.R.A.P. and I my job with CRAP is to investigate paranormal phenomena...

My last mission was to investigate the case of the missing beer bottles. All over the city of Montreal complaints were received from bar owners and liquor store owners alike saying they were running out of beer at an alarming rate.

So I was placed "on the inside" as an undercover agent. I infiltrated every Irish pub and every liquor store in the city posing as an alcoholic trying to see where all the missing booze was going.

I did a great job, most if not all of the bar owners thought I was a drunk, but in truth I was just doing it to blend in, so that the enemy would not know that I am CRAP. So I drank and drank, I kept my eyes open, I drank and drank and drank some more.

There's a saying that says "Working is the bane of the drinking class" well I'm not sure how that fits in to this situation because in effect, drinking WAS my work.

I'm back now, in case no one noticed, because the mission failed. Not because I wasn't good at my job. In fact it's over because I was too good at my job, I drank so much there was no beer left for the thieves and now I'm on paid vacation.

Cheers, I'll drink to that.

Kiss concert in Miami (part 1)

So yeah in a post a while back Wendy promised you that I would upload a compilation video of the Kiss concert we attended in Miami... Well folks, the video is finished, but no matter which kiss song I put to it, Youtube keeps sending me these copyright infringement emails and they keep deleting the sound.

So I'd like your opinion as to what you'd like to hear as a soundtrack to my little short film instead of a kiss song? Leave it in the comments and I'll make it happen!

Scratch that for now... apparently they're leaving the sound on this time... watch it while it lasts.

For my Grandfather...

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
— Lt.-Col. John McCrae (1872 - 1918)

Mentira v/s Verdad

Hey, en que andas?

chatee u npoco con Deya esta mañana...

Y tu que?

13:03Wendy

Mexican candy...

I posted about this stuff on my other blog a few months ago when I first discovered the magic of Mexican candy...

Well now I received more of them from a misguided friend who thinks that I love this stuff.

Can anyone explain to me why the f&ck Mexican candy tastes so strange? I mean we have skittles and stuff and they taste sweet and have fake fruit flavors and stuff... But this stuff is just evil. There's always a spicy-saltiness to the flavor of weird and strange exotic fruits that I don't know that makes it taste more like sour yogurt mixed with cayenne pepper than anything else.

One day, next time I'm in Mexico, I'm going straight to where these things are made and I'm going to demand so god damned answers! Who's with me?

Worst beer EVER

Being Canadian I pride myself on my knowledge and taste in hops based alcoholic beverages (ie beer). I like to think that my upbringing in an Irish/Scottish/French family and being a 5th generation alcoholic has taught me a thing or two about a thing or two. But nothing had prepared me for this...

I went to the liquor store the other day to restock my wine cellar and saw this adorable bottle of beer with a skeleton sitting on a barrel on it with the catchy name "Dead Guy Ale"... Well I should have looked down and also read "Oregon Brewed" because if I had I wouldn't have shelled out 4$ for one bottle of what ended up being the worst tasting beer in the world.

I've always said never judge a boor by it's cover... the same goes for liquor. The quality of what's inside is usually in direct reverse-proportion of the quality of its outside. (Except in the case of Unibroue beers which I will discuss in a later post).

So people don't be fooled by "Dead Guy Ale"... While I do not wish death upon the people responsible for brewing this shit, I do wish something bad to happen to them along the lines of a flat tire or girl with "really big feet"...

Hot Dogs.... The good, the better and the best.

Hot Dogs... those magical mystery meat filled tubes of greasy goodness that I am so fond of.

In Toronto, it's all about the street dogs (which I consider to be some of the best in the world), in Vancouver you can get hot dogs with wasabi and Asian veggies, but here in Montreal the city of fancy foods and artist chefs we get the no-nonsense straight up steamy.

Now for a great steamy in town there is three places you can go:
Montreal Pool Room (on St-Laurent)
Victoire (on Beaver Hall)
Decarie Hot Dogs (on Décarie)

Today I'll talk about Decarie Hot Dogs (even if I think Victoire is better) because to be honest with you, I had a picture of Decarie Hot Dogs and I didn't have one of Victoire.

So Decarie Hot Dogs, at the end of town, at the end of the Orange line at Cote-Vertu sits there like an ageless institution, its few seats are always full from opening until closing, the service sucks, but yet come lunch time the line goes all the way around the building. It's true that at abut $1.25 per hot dog it's a bit pricier then other places such as Alpha's (3 hot dogs for 0.99$), but believe me it's worth the price. These hot dogs just taste great, they're never too hot or too cold, they're steamed to perfection with all the traditional condiments you want.

Decarie Hot Dogs has been voted best in the City a few times and has been featured in some international publications as being one of the best in the world. So if you're ever in the city and have time on your hands and an appetite, hop on the orange line, go all the way to the end and order yourself two steamies with ketchup and mayonnaise. I promise you won't regret it.

Tweeter and the Monkey Man

Tweeter and the Monkey Man were hard up for cash
They stayed up all night selling cocaine and hash
To an undercover cop who had a sister named Jan
For reasons unexplained she loved the Monkey Man

Tweeter was a Boy Scout, 'course he went to Viet Nam
Found out the hard way nobody gives a damn
Thought that they'd find freedom just across the Jersey line
Hopped into a stolen car, took Highway 99

And the walls came down
All the way to hell
Never saw them when they standin'
Never saw them when they fell

The undercover cop, he never liked the Monkey Man
Even back in high school, wanted to see him in the can
Jan got married at fourteen to a racketeer named Bill
Made secret plans with the Monkey Man from a mansion on the hill

It was out on Thunder Road, Tweeter at the wheel
Pulled into paradise, you could hear the tires squeal
It was Jan who'd told him many times, "It was you to me who'd taught:
In Kingston everything's legal as long as you don't get caught"

And the walls came down
All the way to hell
Never saw them when they standin'
Never saw them when they fell

Some place by Rahway prison they ran out of gas
The undercover cop cornered 'em, said, "You didn't think that this could last"
Jan jumped up out of bed, said, "There's some place I gotta go"
She took the gun out of the drawer, and said, "It's best that you don't know"

An ambulance rolled up, State Trooper close behind
Tweeter took his gun away and messed up his mind
The undercover cop was found face down in a field
The Monkey Man was on the bridge, using Tweeter as a shield

And the walls came down
All the way to hell
Never saw them when they standin'
Never saw them when they fell

The town of Jersey City is quieting down again
I'm sitting in a gambling club called The Lion's Den
The TV set is blown up, every bit of it is gone
Ever since the night when they showed that the Monkey Man was on

Maybe I'll go to Florida, get myself some sun
There ain't no more opportunity here and everything's been done
Sometimes I think of Tweeter, sometimes I think of Jan
Sometimes I don't think about nothin' but the Monkey Man

And the walls came down
All the way to hell
Never saw them when they standin'
Never saw them when they fell

By the Headstones.

How to write a cool song...

Any musician will tell you that eventually no matter how much you want to write a song nothing cool comes out of your head... Well there's an amateur musician who took his quest for answers on "How to write a cool song" to the internet...

Here's the question: How do i write a cool song on my guitar?
Here's the answer he received: First, you bake chocolate chip cookies. Then, you crush them up and filter out the crumbs. Next you pour the crumbs onto your favorite pair of sandals. You carry your crumb-covered sandals over to your guitar, hold them up in the air and then crash them together. Cookie dust will fly everywhere. Then you sit down and pluck some strings and you'll undoubtedly have a very cool song.

Instant classic!!!

Montreal Caribbean... Best Jerk in Town!

So last night I was walking around NDG in search of something to eat for dinner, I couldn't think of anything I felt like eating and I didn't have a ton of money on me so my choices were rather limited. As I'm walking down Maisonneuve near Vendome Metro station, I light a cigarette and as I do so this great big Jamaican guy wearing a chef's uniform comes out of nowhere and asks me if I'm hungry.

"Sure man, of course I'm hungry... what do you got?" I ask.
"We got everything, but for you I'll only make jerk chicken." He answers.
"Is yours any good?"
"Nah man, it's not good... it's fucking excellent."

So he shows me to a small table hidden behind some bushes and asks me to sit. I look around and noticed for the first time a really small sign that says "Montreal Caribbean" on top of some stairs leading to the basement of a driving school. I never would have noticed the place if the chef hadn't of come outside.

The chef comes back outside a few minutes later with a glass of beer, a plate of jerk chicken and a bowl of rice, beans and grilled plantain. All that for about the price of a Big Mac combo meal... The chef was right, it wasn't great it was excellent, it was probably the best jerk chicken I've had in Montreal or just about anywhere else for that matter. I'll be going back there as often as I can, because is there anything better than jerk chicken with rice and beans?

Para ti: Avoir le coeur gros.

Bryan's Lament:

Sat back and I light a cigarette
These pictures of you in my head
I feel like shit and my eyes are burning
But still, I just cant go to bed

Whiskey nights and missed mornings
Still these pictures of you in my head
I drown myself ten feet deep tonight
Remembering things we said

Moments get stuck in my brain
In my blue skies and my rain
You are so beautiful to me
I can't wait to see you again

Here comes, that old pain again
I came so far, I ended up at the start
and every new day starts with the sunrise
and pictures of you in my heart

School food.

Old Ladies and the Swastika Quilt

This weekend I was in the Eastern Townships, visiting some family and I stopped at the Lennoxville quilt show (don't ask)... A little church is filled with these little works of art that take hours and hours to make, especially when the makers are little old ladies with arthritic fingers.

I started taking pictures of the quilts as I always do, because my mother likes to see them when I return. Looking through my pictures I noticed the above quilt that looked strangely like a swastika.

Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but with the choice of colors for the quilt and the angle at which the pattern is tilted I had to pause for a second and wonder: did the old lady who made this actually figure out it looked like a swastika?

Either way, maybe I'm the only one who saw it, but it made me laugh and two days later I'm still laughing.

New Adidas and The Old Adidas Project

So after a long weekend of driving everywhere in the damned province, I decided to reward myself with a new pair of Adidas. This brings about the official retirement of my old Adidas as my everyday shoes.

Meaning that as of right now I would like to launch a project (that probably won't catch on) but here it is anyways:

The Old Adidas Project:
- Email me: oldadidas@gmail.com and give me your name/pseudonym and an address where I can post my shoes.
- I will send you my old Adidas and all I ask is that you take a picture of the Adidas somewhere in your surroundings, your city, your travels and that you post them back to me along with your story.
- Once I have a few stories I will start a new blog detailing the new adventures of my old and well traveled shoes.
- (Don't worry they don't smell)

Mc Taouk

In the most famous of Montreal traditions we see here a mix of innovation, integration and adaptation.

A block away from McDonalds and down the block from the world famous Decarie Hot-Dog is the Mc Taouk...

Above you can see the diverse menu that really represents the population of the Cote-Vertu area of Montreal where this restaurant is found...
On the menu you have:
Pizza (Italian)
Fish & Chips (English)
Poutine (Québécois)
Samosa (Indian)
and of course a plethora of Lebanese food:
Shish Taouk
Falafel
Shawarma
Baklawa

To be honest with you all, I've never eaten at Mc Taouk and I don't think I ever will, having worked in restaurants in the past I tend to distrust a restaurant with a menu that is too wide ranging and not specialized enough. It makes me think of bad buffets that give you stomach problems in the end.

Nonetheless you have to admire the owners of Mc Taouk for moving with the times and adapting to their surroundings.

"La foto"
